What happened

A wall of ice, rock and water.

On Wednesday 26 August 2026, flash floods and mudslides tore through the valleys of central-northern Nepal. The United Nations reports that the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading bore the worst of it, with the flood travelling down the Trishuli river and through the settlements along its banks. The cause is believed to be the collapse of a glacier high in the Himalaya.

Hundreds of people remain missing across Nepal and the border region. The United Nations estimates that at least 17,000 children have been affected in those three districts alone. Roads, bridges, water systems and telecommunications have been badly damaged, and many of the affected communities are still difficult to reach.

How your gift helps

We have a goal of $10,000, to house, feed, and clothe those displaced by the floods.

Universal Love has supported families in Nepal since our earliest relief work, including the Kapilvastu rice crop campaign in 2021. We are reaching out to our existing contacts in the region to identify families in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading who need direct support, and will update this page as those connections are confirmed.

Our goal for this appeal is $10,000, enough to provide emergency food, clean water and temporary shelter materials to approximately 100 displaced families at $100 per family. Every dollar raised beyond immediate relief will go toward rebuilding support as these communities recover.

100% of funds raised will go directly to the families affected, distributed through trusted local contacts on the ground in Nepal, the same way Universal Love has handled past relief efforts. You can give above using PayPal, or reach out to us directly at namaste@universallove.world.

As all of these families are part of our universal family, we would like to express our solidarity with their situation and share what we can.
